Scripting —Client and Server-side

These days, scripting is an important part of web sites. Most people would say that the only benefit of scripting is validating web forms - not so. For example:we use an internal set of pages which enable us to check our email via the web, all implemented using HTML and scripting.

There are two main types of scripting, client-side and server-side. For client-side we use Javascript, and for server-side we use Perl and now PHP too. All of these being the main standards being used today.

The hierarchic pull-down menus on this site are an example of Javascript. The Contact Us form we use is an example of a server-side perlscript implementation.
